In 2003 we released our first power amplifier design to market. Our FFA-5000 featured 'unusually' - dual SMPS which allowed both channels to be totally independent of each other. The main advantage's of dual power is dual redundancy as historically many amplifiers designs that suffered catastrophic failure not only lost one channel of audio but both. Audio performance also benefits from this design philosophy. The amplifier section used our own discrete Class D PWM amplifier circuitry and was specified to drive 2500W @ 2 ohms. The amplifier was lightweight at 12kg. The FFA-5000 was noted for excellent bass reproduction with no compromise in audio performance when driven into 2 Ohm loads.
In the early days amplifiers was manufactured on the kitchen table and customers often found their amplifier orders 'soak' tested in the bathroom, these were of course not being washed but being burnt in by being driven into dummy resistive loads as the bathroom was the only space for these large load banks.
From our humble beginnings and with the support, feedback and of course understanding at times from our loyal customers FFA amplifier designs soon became highly reliable and offered very high power that was required. We still have many of the customers whom trusted us to provide amplification for their high end shows and festival stages.
Our amplifiers are installed in entertainment venues across The UK, Europe, Asia and The America's. A multitude of venues are specified with loudspeaker systems driven with FFA. These venues range from tiny karaoke bars, regional theatres, schools, local nightclubs and world renowned nightclubs.
The rugged design of our amplifiers makes them ideally suited for use in temporary sound installations or touring. FFA amplifiers are specified to drive sound systems for outdoor music festivals which can be a very harsh environment to work within. The UK's temperamental summer weather, Snow festivals in the Alps and desert festivals in America and Northern Africa all offer challenging environments.
Renowned UK tour house Capital sound uses FFA four channel amplifiers for a variety of roles which includes stage monitors to powering multi way front of house systems. The amplifiers are used Europe wide.
We have been selected by high end loudspeaker designers and manufactures Funktion-One Research to supply OEM versions of our amplifiers to power their premier installations such as SPACE in Ibiza, Moscow and Egypt.
Noise Control Audio use FFA OEM amplifiers to power their loudspeaker systems. Noise Control Audio's sister company STAGECORE specialise in Festival and touring systems supply 15 stages every year for the world famous Glastonbury Festival.
